Rock, Waterfalls, Fire Pits and Patios

Natural rock structures, waterfalls, grottos, fire pits, patios and walkways, custom built from rock and concrete for backyards in Franklin and Middle Tennessee.

What the stone has to do before it looks good

Hardscaping is the magic element that gives a pool area its unique style, but it is also the part of the yard that carries weight and sheds water. Before a waterfall or a fire pit is drawn, the questions are practical ones: where people will walk, where they will sit, where the grade falls and where the rain goes.

Natural rock structures, elegant waterfalls, cozy grottos, fire pits, patios and walkways are the features Four Seasons builds most for its clients. Kirk & Jody Goddard plan them together with the pool, so the stonework meets the coping, the deck and the lawn at the right height instead of being added around them afterward.

Building in rock and concrete

Four Seasons crafts its hardscape designs from rock and concrete, with the aim of making a backyard look like the resort home the owner has always dreamed of. A waterfall starts as a structure: a stone ledge built to carry water, with the spill points set so the sheer descents fall the way they were drawn.

Patios and walkways are laid on a prepared base with the grade and the drainage worked out first, then finished in the stone or paver that matches the rest of the yard. A fire pit is built into that same patio, in the same material, so it reads as part of the terrace and not as something set down on top of it.

The result is one palette from the pool coping to the walkway, which is easier on the eye and easier to live with.

Fire, water and stone through the year

Hardscapes are the one service that works in every season. Water falling over stone sounds the same in June as it does in October, and a fire pit turns the patio into a place to sit once the swimming is over for the year.

A walkway that drains well stays safe underfoot through a Middle Tennessee winter, and a fire pit built into the patio is ready whenever the evening turns cool. Call (615) 219-5770 and Kirk & Jody will talk through what suits your yard in Franklin or beyond.

Kim G wrote that after meeting with Kirk & Jody the process was much easier than she first imagined, and that she now has “a beautiful swimming pool and fire pit.”
